# 3. Natural Gold Mica Egg Tempera Paint

Supplies:

  • Natural Gold Mica Earth & Mineral Pigment
  • Raw egg
  • Optional: clove oil

Instructions:

  1. Crack egg & pour out egg whites, keeping only the yolk in the shell.
  2. Pour the yolk onto paper towel to gently dry.
  3. Puncture the sack around egg yolk and squeeze yolk out into dish.
  4. Mix the yolk with the Natural Gold Mica in a 1:1 ratio, adjusting as needed.
  5. Dilute the paint with water for a thinner paint.
  6. Paint away!

Note: You can add a few drops of clove oil to slow spoilage. Tempera paint doesn’t store well once mixed, so only mix the amount you need.

More usertips

  • Add Mica to your varnishes for a platina-effect.
  • If you add only a small amount of Mica to Walnut Oil and paint it on your surface, the effect will be more subtle: the surface becomes translucent and apears to have more dept.
  • Don't mix Mica with a opaque or white paint, the effect will be lost.
  • Change the background color of your surface and the gold takes on a whole new hue.
