Recipe: Make your own Natural Play Dough

Our friends at Wild Earth Babe created a lovely (scented) play dough recipe with our Natural Earth Paint, perfect for the oncoming autumn months!

"This is such a quick and simple recipe to make and in no time you will have your own (large) batch of handmade playdough, using a few ingredients you can swap around to create different scents. This recipe has a beautiful orange and cinnamon scent, coloured with Natural Earth Paint, perfect as we head into autumn and winter!

You will need:

• 2 cups of plain flour
• 1/2 cup of salt
• 3 tbsp of vegetable oil
• 4 tbsp Natural Earth Paint (we used an earthy orange, and you can use more or less powder depending on how vibrant you want it. Or use our loose Mineral Earth Pigments)
• 2 tbsp of cream of tartar
• 1 1/2 cups of boiled water

Optional (to make a scented Play Dough)

• 4 drops of orange essence
• 2 tbsp of cinnamon

Method:

Mix the flour, salt, vegetable oil and paint together until well mixed.

Optional: then add your orange essence, cinnamon and cream of tarter, mixing until the ingredients are all combined.

Add your boiled water and combine together!

Once it has cooled, kneed the dough and break into even balls (this should give you about 7 good sized portions of dough). 

We store our dough in beeswax food wraps which can be washed and reused."
